Ahmed Rostom is a Senior Financial Sector Specialist at The World Bank’s Finance and Markets Global Practice’s South Asia Region. He joined the World Bank group on February 2010. He is leading the policy dialogue on finance and markets while actively participating and contributing to multi-sectoral teams involved in policy based operations. Dr. Rostom also worked in the World Bank’s Finance and Markets Global Practice’s solution team on Banking and Architecture and was previously part of the East Asia and Pacific region – Finance and Private Sector Development team as well as a member in the advisory team of the World Bank’s Managing Director. Prior to joining the World Bank, he was the Head of Financial Services Policies Unit in the Egyptian Ministry of Investment from 2004 till 2009, and the Head of The International Cooperation Department in The Egyptian Money Laundering Combating Unit during 2003. He was also a Deputy Manager – Credit Risk Management Department, at the Egyptian Gulf Bank that he joined in 1998 till 2003. Dr. Rostom received his Ph.D. in Economics at George Washington University, Washington D.C. in fields of Quantitative Economics and international trade and finance (December 2015). He holds a M.Sc. in Economics and Social Policy Analysis from University of York in United Kingdom (August 2007).
